Entry Requirements

  • The minimum age for entry to this beauty therapy diploma course is 18 years – no exceptions.
  • No previous experience required, although a good general education is essential for this course.
  • An excellent level of English is required to attend this course, you must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
  • International students will be required to gain a ‘Standard Visitor Visa’ and pay the relevant International Student Fee for this course.

FACIALS AND SKINCARE

  • Skin Analysis
  • Cleansing, balancing, toning & moisturising
  • Steaming, Extraction and Full Facial Massage
  • Selecting, mixing and applying tailor-made face masques
  • The theory in this module involves the anatomy & physiology of the upper torso; including the muscles, bones, blood and nerve supply
  • Theory of the skin

WAXING

  • Two different methods of hair removal; hot bees wax and cream strip wax
  • Techniques for waxing all areas of the face and body
  • Theory work on hair growth and patterns
  • Post treatment care techniques
  • Consultation and selling skills

LASH & BROW TREATMENTS

  • Patch test techniques
  • Eyelash and eyebrow tinting
  • Eyelash perming techniques
  • Eyebrow shaping

MANICURE & PEDICURE

  • Maintenance and care techniques for the nails, the skin of the hands and feet
  • The application of colour to the nails on both hands and feet
  • French manicure and pedicure techniques
  • Paraffin wax and warm oil treatments
  • Theory of this unit includes an in-depth study of the structure of the nail as well as the anatomy and physiology of the rest of the lower leg and forearms

BODY MASSAGE

We have structured this module to bring you a wealth of valuable massage techniques that will set you at the cutting edge going into the industry. You will cover the following techniques;

  • Swedish Body Massage
  • Indian Head Massage

FACIAL ELECTROTHERAPY

This module will enable you to gain the knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of popular electrical and mechanical treatments for the face;

  • Facial Faradic
  • Vacuum Suction/Mechanical Lymphatic Drainage
  • Micro-current/Non-Surgical Lift
  • Facial Galvanic Treatments
  • High-Frequency Facials
  • Microdermabrasion

BODY ELECTROTHERAPY

This module will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of popular electrical and mechanical treatments for the body;
  • G5 Massage
  • Faradic/Slender-tone
  • Vacuum Suction/Mechanical Lymphatic Drainage
  • Micro-current/Non-Surgical Lift

Laser hair removal is fast becoming the most desired way of removing unwanted body hair by clients who frequent beauty salons. Most salons now offer laser hair removal amongst their list of treatments; however, finding the trained staff is becoming more difficult as this treatment grows in popularity, therefore, there has never been a better time to get yourself trained in this exciting new hair removal method and be ahead of the game. Once qualified there is guaranteed work in this field either in salons, hair removal clinics or even working for your self. It is also desirable to hold a qualification in epilation (electrolysis) as most salons have Laser and Epilation machines which would put you to the forefront when it comes to employment.GENERAL COMPETENCIES

COMMERCIAL SALON EXPERIENCE

IN THE Beauty London School

Included in the course students will also participate in our Beauty salon*. Giving newly qualified therapists the chance to work on paying clients in a commercial setting, this helps to boost the students confidence and competence in a real-life salon environment.

*Although the ‘normal’ study hours are 10am–5pm, you will also be required to practice your treatments in our student salon at the end of your class time, the salon is Monday to Fridays 10:00am-6pm.

Students will also receive an BLS Post Graduate Salon certificate, which is ideal for newly qualified therapists, giving them the edge when applying for jobs.

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty therapist and salon managements . You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty therapist. Career opportunities as a beauty therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:
